Spellbound

The night is darkening round me,

The wild winds coldly blow;

But a tyrant spell has bound me

And I cannot, cannot go.

The giant trees are bending

Their bare boughs weighed with snow.

And the storm is fast descending,

And yet I cannot go.

Clouds beyond clouds above me,

Wastes beyond wastes below;

But nothing drear can move me;

I will not, cannot go.

- by Emily Bronte

And so it begins again... One year closes, while another opens. Our hopes and expectations are fresh and crisp as this January air. Yet, with only 5 day in, all I really want to do is hibernate ‘til spring… and spend my time reading gorgeous poetry like this piece from Emily Bronte!

Hmm, perfect choice.
I think of relationships with this one.

Embrace change was last year's vision, I think this one will have to do with embracing choice, saying "No" or "yes"

happy new day

Did she live in Canada too?

Maybe she didn't have a Visa?

Do you have a 55?

:-)

I feel the same way Felicitas..
I blame it on the weather..lol..
Thank gawd though for writing,reading,blogging and such from the comfort of our warm home.
I am trying everyday to balance my hibernating craving by walking at least twice a day and focusing on my goals..It's hard sometimes but when I do - I feel truly energized.

Yes,that is a nice poem too btw.

happy new year !

Happy New Year, everyone.

Dianne - I agree with you on both points!

G-Man - As you can see above, I do indeed have a 55 for you! As far as Ms. Bronte's Visa is concerned... it must have gotten lost in the mail!

Tabitha - Walking is a great idea. And if it warms up a little, I might be tempted to try it - LOL!

I'm with you --- fast forward to spring, please! Although working through a long winter always makes April flowers so much more beautiful.

Great picture, by the way!
