55-Over

Enveloped in bitter night,
We walk silently along our separate paths,
Time for any discussion long since gone.
The waning moon, near invisible,
Behind drifting patches
Of blackened clouds,
Illuminating briefly, though well enough
For all the grim reminders
Of both our indiscretions, to appear
Cast in unfortunate shadows
Laid bare across an icy trail.

Bitter, unfortunately, grim - all powerful words painting that icy trail.

I hope you are posting some of your stuff over at One Stop Poetry

So cold and sad. Lots of emotion in your 55, Felicitas.

So many blanks to fill in. This says so much yet leaves me wanting so much more.

Very nice this metamorphosis.

Personally I do not see it so
"cool" .. but it is our thought for a fleeting memory.

I say that the shadows can also be unhappy, but .. they can never be separated.
