Moving On

Looking back
What could have been
Was never her way.
Focused only
On now,
She gives the past
Its dignified end.

Happy times
That are no more.
Sad times
Without purpose
Of being relived.
She knows
It’s better this way.

Events long gone
Ever clouded
In subjective
Memories.
Contentment
Far more available
In present tense.

Looking forward
Toward future bliss,
With hope and
Inspiration
As her guiding lights,
This can be
Her only way.

Subjective memories. That is a great line and all the more reason for us to seek our better future than to change our past. Love reading you.

Always look forward! Life is too short to lament about the past.

Lovely poem. Sounds like she has the right attitude though like most of us it took her awhile to get there.

There is nothing sweeter than being able to put the past behind and to be able to look forward. The present is sometimes so difficult to stay in, but if one can do it, then it is can be empowering. I like your blog. Very nice.

Peace.

Nice to meet you on Poets United. Well written poem. Sometimes the best alternative is to move on.

I do think letting the past come to a dignified end is the way to go. Nicely crafted!
