He's Leaving

I signed the papers… but only now is it really sinking in. With bags packed, my baby glances back as my heart bleeds, “Don’t worry mom. I’ll be home Wednesday.”

Tomorrow morning my 11 year old is going away on his first overnight school trip. I know he’ll be fine, but even thinking about not having him nearby is difficult for me. As parents, we try to do what’s best for our children and sometimes that means letting go. I’m sure, by the time he comes back, we’ll both have benefitted from the experience.

5. If tetherball was an Olympic sport, I’m certain I’d have won a gold medal at the age of 12 (yep, I was THAT awesome).

7. I’m constantly accused of wearing too much black… but, really, can there be such a thing?
